De Klokke
One platform for the podcast, the match and the Club Brugge community
View live project →

The story
De Klokke Podcast has been running since 2020 as the football podcast for and by Club Brugge supporters: a weekly episode, in-depth interviews with players and coaches, and a loyal Blauw-Zwart community. Only that community was scattered across YouTube, Spotify, Apple Podcasts, social media and assorted chats, without a home of its own. In a single week, Lefief built a central platform that brings everything together: episodes searchable by season, the full Club Brugge match calendar and league standings, aggregated club news, shorts, sponsor deals, and an installable PWA with push notifications. New YouTube episodes are pulled in automatically, standings and news refresh themselves, and the podcast team never loses a minute to site maintenance. The result is a platform fans actually come back to instead of chasing one of ten social feeds, with a Discord bot keeping the community discussion exactly where the supporters already hang out.
Considerations
- Astro over an SPA
A content-heavy site with podcast SEO as the top priority. Astro ships statically rendered HTML with selective interactivity (islands): fast first paint, less JavaScript shipped to the browser, and every episode indexable by search engines.
- SQLite via better-sqlite3
Zero database-ops overhead. For the volume of a weekly podcast plus cached YouTube, news and standings data, SQLite is more than enough and keeps deployment simple (one file, no DB server).
- Automated content ingest
Scripts poll YouTube for new episodes, pull Club Brugge news via RSS and Google News, and refresh standings through football-data. The podcast team publishes on YouTube; the site updates itself. Manual CMS work disappears.
- PWA-first distribution
Installable as a mobile app, with push notifications on every new episode. Fans get a direct line to the podcast instead of relying on social algorithms that rarely surface audio content.
- SEO and analytics from day one
Every Lefief platform goes live with the SEO basics in place (Open Graph, sitemap, canonical URLs, Core Web Vitals-proof), with Google Analytics and Search Console already wired up. No waiting months to find out whether the platform is being found: discoverability and measurement are baked in from day one.
- Four client iterations in one week
Daily feedback rounds with the host. Priorities shifted along the way: shorts got promoted, a sponsorships page was added. The short cycle made sure the end product matches what the podcast actually needs, not a spec frozen up front.

How De Klokke could grow further.
Live match data
Live Club Brugge match data integrated end to end: real-time score, goals, substitutions and key events as the match plays out.
Outcome prediction via prediction markets
Match-outcome predictions through a prediction-market mechanism. Listeners vote on results, the market sets the odds, and winners earn credits or shout-outs.
Live Club Brugge player data
Up-to-date player stats and info on the Club Brugge squad: goals, assists, minutes, form. Clickable from the match calendar through to each player card.
Optional hosting services
Custom domain, management and maintenance included: updates, backups and uptime run on autopilot. Zero IT worries on your end, so you can stay focused on what actually matters: the value you deliver.
